Brief introduction to the Department of Islamic Studies
The Department of Islamic Studies within the framework of the Faculty of Sharia and Law of Salam University is a hands-on and productive department. This department officially started its activities at the same time with the establishment of Salam University in 2009. From 2012 to 2018, it Graduated 582 students both male and female. Approximately (40%) of these graduates have been employed in various governmental and private sector administrations. The Department of Islamic Studies has eight permanent professors in its academic staff.
The Department of Islamic Studies is one of the basic, specialized and productive departments in which students study in three shifts. The curriculum and course outlines of the Department have been revised three times by the department. Thus, it has the curriculum which is a standard, appropriate and in accordance with the bill of the Ministry of Higher Education. The subjects are classified into four categories (basic, professional, optional and university criteria).
The current intake of male and female students of this department in the fall semester of 2018 reaches (402) ones.

Abilities and skills of students of the Department of Islamic Studies
After graduating from the Department of Islamic Studies, students will have the following abilities and skills, and will be able to serve their community, people and country in the following areas:
1- Ability to teach Islamic Studies, belief, principles of Islamic Da’wah and jurisprudential subjects in educational institutions, institutes of higher and semi-higher education, schools and high schools of the country.
3- Ability to lead a righteous society in the right direction in accordance with the principles and teachings of Islam.
4- Ability of being perfect Imams, presenting sermon and having various skills of Da’wah.
5- Ability to coexist with different classes and followers of different schools of Islamic jurisprudence.
6- Ability to offer academic and professional advice to various governmental and non-governmental agencies.
7- Ability to conduct academic research and research required in religious, jurisprudential, Belief, Arabic and other relevant fields.
8- Ability of being Fluent in Arabic, Quran and Prophetic Hadiths.
9- Ability in compilation and translation skills of original Arabic texts into the national languages of the country.
10- Ability of imparting academic and professional experiences to the young generation of the country in the field of Islamic education.
11- Ability of teaching skills of Imamat, teaching and elocution in academic institutions and general meetings.
12- Ability of teaching the skills of preaching in various fields.
Educational Objectives of the Department of Islamic Studies
1- Preparing scholars and intellectuals who are aware of Islam in general and have a deep and moderate understanding of the Quranic studies, Hadith, belief and other Islamic studies in particular.
2- Preparing scholars to guide the community through standard research in their field of expertise.
3- Taking action through this program in the field of Islamic Studies to meet the needs of society and become self-sufficient.
4- Developing the capacity of introducing different schools of thought to students in order to develop a culture of tolerance and mutual coexistence in society.
5- Preparing expert figures, academic and innovative personalities in the field of teaching, religious guidance, preaching and sermons, social and religious issues so that they direct the society properly in the above-mentioned areas through authentic writing and compilation, and also be able to meet the needs and requirements of society by their own initiatives.
Vision
The Department of Islamic Studies within the framework of the Faculty of Sharia and Law is determined to be a model and pioneer institute of higher education at the national level in the fields of Interpretation, Hadith, Belief, preaching, teaching and research, and especially in educating academic and purposeful cadres in order to meet the reform, educational and training needs of the country On the one hand, and adopts the moderate way in disputed matters on the other hand to direct the society in the right direction.
