Introduction to the Faculty of Sharia & Law
The Faculty of Sharia and Law was established in 2009 within the framework of Salam University with five departments, such as Department of Jurisprudence & Law, Department of Islamic Studies, Department of Islamic History, Department of Faith & philosophy, and Department of Arabic Language. The faculty offers Master and Bachelor degree programs in the field of Law and Jurisprudence and Islamic Studies and Diploma programs in Arabic and Islamic History. The prime objective of establishing this academic institution is to educate the young generation of our beloved country (Afghanistan) so that they are self-reliant in terms of expertise, be academic cadres, and to play crucial role in the development of the country in the field of higher education and various other fields since the Faculty of Sharia and Law believes that progress in any field depends on quality and standard education, and commitment to religious and national values. Moreover, the Faculty aims to present specialized and committed religious scholars, expert professors, imams of mosques, experienced and awake preachers, just and sincere judges, qualified prosecutors and eligible lawyers to the community. In fact, the Faculty of Sharia & Law in this regard, does not spare any effort and considers this as one of its significant and fundamental duties and accountabilities.
Also it is worth mentioning that in the current situation the Faculty of Sharia and Law has a considerable number of students, 35% of whom are males and 65% of others are females, and provides students with educational ground in three shifts (morning, afternoon, night) in separate building and classes.
In the Faculty of Sharia and Law, the study period in the bachelor's degree is four years and consists of eight semesters. According to the bill of the Ministry of Higher Education, two semesters are studied each year, and each semester consists of 16 weeks. After the end of the semester, the final exams are administered in two to three weeks.
The number of credits is different in each semester, but according to the credit bill of the Ministry of Higher Education, the number of credits in each semester should not be less than 17 and nor more than 21.
In the eighth semester, every student is required to write monograph which is debated and evaluated by the selected board of the Department. The defense of monographs is carried out accurately in accordance with the monograph bill. In fact, defense of monographs is a part of the curriculum, and successful defense is one of the basic conditions for graduation.
Due to the nature of the subjects taught in the Faculty of Sharia, theoretical lessons are more than practical ones, but there are some practical tasks as well, such as extraction of Hadiths, holding a moot court, holding training seminars for preaching, group discussion, asking and answering questions session, making students present topics in the classrooms and doing assignments given by the lecturers in different subjects for better understanding, so the lessons in both theoretical and practical aspects are student-centered in the Faculty of Sharia and law.
Objectives of the Faculty
The Faculty of Sharia and Law was established according to the urgent needs of the Afghan society and the purpose of its establishment is to create a quality and standard educational institution to be able to educate a knowledgeable youths in the fields of religious, contemporary and common education in the society. Students after graduation from this institution with the spirit of religion and patriotism will be able to realize their responsibilities and serve the religion and the country sincerely in order to be pioneers in fulfilling their accountabilities.
The Department of Sharia and Law strives to achieve the following goals in accordance with appropriate grounds and conditions:
1- Educating and presenting academic and specialized cadres to the society in the fields of judiciary, Ifta, legislation, advocacy, teaching and guidance, Imamate and Islamic preaching and calling others to Islam.
2- Presenting committed and professional individuals to the society to ensure justice, defend the rights of people, men and women, human rights and contribute to the establishment of discipline and social security.
3- Presenting competent and professional cadres to the society to bring reforms in the justice and judicial system of the country.
4- Equipping students with the right belief, and religious principles based on the principle of moderation.
5- Teaching different religious and jurisprudential views and creating a correct understanding of balanced jurisprudence that is far from rising any kind of prejudice and fanaticism among the students.
6- Conducting academic research in the fields of laws, principles of legislation and contemporary jurisprudential cases in order to improve research in this field on the one hand and to meet the religious and legal needs of the society on the other hand.
7- Creating an appropriate ground for boosting the level of knowledge of the young generation of the country including men and women based on academic standards and far away from any kind of discrimination, extremism and fanaticism.
8- Preparing University graduates to play an effective role in physical and spiritual reconstruction, political stability and social development, and ensuring security and justice in the country based on specialized academic skills.
9- Enhancing academic relations with the faculties of Sharia and Law of other universities inside and outside the country for conducting joint academic research, exchange of academic materials, articles and academic and affective experiences.
10- Offering advice in the areas of jurisprudential cases, defense advocacy, judiciary and prosecutorial offices and Ifta to national and international institutions.
11- Promoting and paying attention to religious rites and Islamic values in the society.
12- Establishing different specialized and academic departments that our society requires, such as

Brief introduction to Department of Arabic Language
The Department of Arabic Language within the framework of the Faculty of Sharia and Law is an Inclusive University Department. Expert professors at the level of the Faculty of Sharia & Law and Political Science & Law regulates it and teach various subjects, such as Morphology, syntax, Rhetoric and Arabic conversation.
This Department has (3) permanent and (7) experienced contract professors who are familiar with modern technology.
Teaching Arabic Language includes all the basic parts of language learning, such as getting acquainted with Arabic Grammar theoretically and practically, speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
Importance and General Objectives of Arabic Language
1 - paying attention to Arabic Language is considered compulsory and necessary since it is the language of Shari'a and the religion of Islam.
2- Familiarizing students with Arabic texts in order to result in the growth and development of their capacities and talents.
3-Knowing a language is an efficient way to approach goals. Thus, the Arabic Language is a means by which the students of Islamic studies achieve their goals as soon as possible.
4- getting acquainted with the Arab world by learning and teaching Arabic as it is one of the most spoken and famous languages of the world.
5- Having familiarity with Arabic Language will lead to the growth and development of a society and people.
Abdul Malik Saqib, the head of the Sharia faculty at Salam University, was born in the year 1367 AH in Farghamiru village, Jarem district, Badakhshan province. During his childhood, alongside regular school lessons, he diligently studied various books on Persian literature, syntax, jurisprudence, rhetoric, logic, hadith, commentary, and other Arabic and religious sciences. He received guidance from his parents and other knowledgeable individuals in these fields. After completing advanced studies, he graduated from Darul Uloom Al-Sharhad in Peshawar, Pakistan, earning a graduation certificate.
Abdul Malik Saqib's extensive teaching experience dates back to his student days, as he taught in religious schools while pursuing his own education. After completing the curriculum course, he taught in different schools and eventually specialized in teaching the final stage of the curriculum, the Hadith course, at Darul Uloom Aali Ansar in Herat city. In further pursuit of academic advancement, he earned his bachelor's degree from the Sharia faculty of Jami University in Herat in 2011. He later completed his master's degree at Salam Kabul University in 2016, which led him to start teaching at the university.
Since 2020, in addition to his teaching responsibilities, Abdul Malik Saqib has held the position of head of Salam University's Sharia faculty. We pray for his continued success in all his future endeavors.

Brief introduction to the Department of Islamic Studies
The Department of Islamic Studies within the framework of the Faculty of Sharia and Law of Salam University is a hands-on and productive department. This department officially started its activities at the same time with the establishment of Salam University in 2009. From 2012 to 2018, it Graduated 582 students both male and female. Approximately (40%) of these graduates have been employed in various governmental and private sector administrations. The Department of Islamic Studies has eight permanent professors in its academic staff.
The Department of Islamic Studies is one of the basic, specialized and productive departments in which students study in three shifts. The curriculum and course outlines of the Department have been revised three times by the department. Thus, it has the curriculum which is a standard, appropriate and in accordance with the bill of the Ministry of Higher Education. The subjects are classified into four categories (basic, professional, optional and university criteria).
The current intake of male and female students of this department in the fall semester of 2018 reaches (402) ones.

4- Developing the capacity of introducing different schools of thought to students in order to develop a culture of tolerance and mutual coexistence in society.
5- Preparing expert figures, academic and innovative personalities in the field of teaching, religious guidance, preaching and sermons, social and religious issues so that they direct the society properly in the above-mentioned areas through authentic writing and compilation, and also be able to meet the needs and requirements of society by their own initiatives.
Brief Introduction to the Department of Islamic Culture
The Department of Islamic Culture in the framework of the Faculty of Sharia and Law is an inclusive university department, the subjects of which are taught at all the faculties according to the bill of Ministry of Higher Education.
Hiring specialized professors and distribution of Islamic culture subjects in coordination with the Department of Sharia and Law, is one of the responsibilities of the Department. Its subjects include all the semesters of whole academic years. The details of the subjects are as below:
First semester: Islamic worldview.
Second semester: Philosophy of worship in Islam.
Third semester: The moral system of Islam.
Fourth semester: Islamic social system.
Fifth semester: Islamic political system.
Sixth semester: Islamic economic system.
Seventh semester: Quran and contemporary sciences.
Eighth semester: Islamic civilization.
This department has (3) permanent professors and (27) male and female contract professors who have high capacity and talent and are familiar with modern technology.
General Objectives of the Department of Islamic Culture
1- Making the students aware of the basic and moral rules and regulations of Islam and enhancing their capacity and talents in understanding religion and sharia.
2- Understanding the meanings of the rulings of Islamic Law (Sharia) and etiquette of life with the ways of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.
3 - Recognizing the moral, social, political and economic systems of Islam, and staying away from any kind of religious, ideological and moral deviations.
4- Linking the educated young generation with religious beliefs.
5- Boosting the moderate and fair understanding of contentious issues in students.
6- Familiarizing students with the philosophy and wisdom of worship in Islam and analyzing the role of worship in prosperity of life of this world and hereafter.
7- Familiarizing students with the ways of combating intellectual, ideological and moral vice considering the jurisprudence of priorities and the jurisprudence of enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong.
8- Understanding correctly that Islam is a complete, comprehensive and responsive system to all areas of human life.
Brief Introduction to the Department of Jurisprudence & Law
The Department of Jurisprudence & Law within the framework of the Faculty of Sharia and Law of Salam University is a hands-on and productive department. The Department of Jurisprudence & Law has six permanent professors in its academic staff.

Thus, it has the curriculum which is a standard, appropriate and in accordance with the bill of the Ministry of Higher Education.
