As part of its practical activities, the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences held a simulated session of the SAARC organization under the guidance of Researcher and Lecturer Abdul Saboor Mubarez. This simulated summit, hosted in Kabul, focused on discussions related to trade and regional connectivity.

At the beginning of the program, Lecturer Abdul Saboor Mubarez delivered the opening remarks, briefly discussing the overall procedure, the significance of the program, the background of the SAARC organization, and Afghanistan’s membership in it.

In this simulation, the political science students played representative roles, including the heads of state of the eight SAARC countries, the Secretary-General, the UN representative, media correspondents, and security officials.

First, the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan delivered the opening speech, followed by statements from the leaders of the other seven member countries (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, and Bhutan), as well as the representative of the United Nations. At the end of the session, the SAARC leaders agreed to establish free-trade zones for the purpose of boosting trade, and the official declaration of this decision was read by the Secretary-General of the organization.

After the conclusion of the SAARC session, a press conference was held during which media representatives from the member countries posed questions, which were answered accordingly.

Finally, the Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Lecturer Fatehullah Ahadi, delivered the closing remarks, and the program concluded with a prayer.
