Introduction to the Salam International Academic Journal
Establishment
The decision to establish the Salam Scientific Journal as a biannual research journal was made in the autumn of 2010 during a meeting at the higher administration of Salam University. The first issue of Salam was published in the spring of 2011 with 162 pages in A4 format. The Editor-in-Chief was Associate Professor Shafiqullah Amin and the Managing Editor was Professor Dr. Misbahullah Abdulbaqi, both faculty members of Salam University with high academic credentials. The first issue included an introduction and six scientific articles in Pashto, Dari, and Arabic, which were warmly received by the academic community at the time. From the second issue onward, English articles were also included.
Scientific Credibility and Achievements: The journal administration worked to obtain official recognition, but due to strict and unrealistic regulations this process was delayed. After meeting all conditions and requirements, the Salam Scientific Journal received official scientific accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education of Afghanistan on June 8, 2022. Since then, the published articles have had official recognition and contribute to the academic advancement of their authors.
Since its establishment, 15 issues of the Salam Scientific Journal have been published in 11 volumes, with a total of 75 articles. In addition to other articles, the opening articles of the Salam Scientific Journal hold special significance, discussing Afghanistan's strategic and critical issues and offering policy recommendations to decision-makers and policymakers.
Editorial Team
Currently, the Editor-in-Chief of the journal is Professor Dr. Misbahullah Abdulbaqi and the Managing Editor is Professor Abubakr Maddaq. In addition, seven faculty members with high academic qualifications and extensive research experience serve as members of the editorial board. There is also a long list (35 individuals) of reviewers from inside and outside the university who evaluate and review articles on a contractual basis for a specified fee. Articles are typically assigned to reviewers who possess sufficient expertise and skills in the relevant subject area.
Conditions for Acceptance and Publication of Articles: The Salam International Academic Journal publishes articles that are original and innovative and provide practical solutions to the discussed problems. Submitted articles are first checked for plagiarism and basic formatting. They are then sent to subject-matter experts for comprehensive scientific evaluation. Only articles that score highly in the evaluation process and incorporate reviewers' scientific comments and suggestions are eligible for publication in Salam.
